The meeting was called to order at 2:05 p.m.

A. APPROVAL OF 8/19 /2020 MEETING MINUTES
MOVED TO 10/21/2020 MEETING
B. UPDATE ON WHAT THE LOCAL AREA COMMUNITY CENTERS PROVIDE FOR SENIOR
ACTIVITIES
Vice Chair Bostic shared that the Federal Way Community Center (FWCC) reopened with
COVID-19 guidelines on September 2, 2020.
The Pro’s for the FWCC is:
• Silver Sneaker Program – Possibly free membership through insurance
• Senior Trips
• Senior Room
• Nice Facility
• Lunch programs – 2x a week

• Pool Tables
• Card games
• Defensive Drivers Classes
• AARP Classes
Con’s :
• Not just a senior center
• Monthly costs $43 a month
Commissioner North updated the Commission on the Federal Way Senior Center
Pro’s:
• Lunch 5 days a week
• Continental breakfast 5 days a week
• Costs per meal is $4 or free if needed
• Annual membership fee $25
• Bingo
• Holiday parties
• Arts & Crafts
• Food banks
• Many come to drink coffee and socialize
Con’s:
• Location
Commissioner North updated the Commission on the Auburn Senior Center
Pro’s:
• Lunch 5 days a week
• Costs per meal is $4 or free if needed
• Holiday parties
• Trips
• Movies
• Pool Tables
Enumclaw Senior Center offers blood pressure checks and podiatrist checks.
C. BROCHURE UPDATE - LOCATIONS
Commissioner Fields shared that he has placed the brochures at Life Care Center, Macy’s,
Fife Attorney Office, Enterprise Car Rental, SHAG and various restaurants.
Commissioner North shared that she has dropped them off at the Federal Way Senior
Center, Northwest Wellness, and Federal Way Farmers Market.
Commissioner Pratt will follow up with St. Francis and Chair Harvey will check with Virginia
Mason.

Vice Chair Bostic will contact the Federal Way Mirror about doing an article on the Senior
Advisory Commission, the brochure and that we are celebrating our one year anniversary.
