AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON, AMENDING THE
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE OF THE FEDERAL WAY
DIVERSITY COMMISSION, AND AMENDING THE
PRIORITIZATION OF THE RESPONSIBILrTIES THEREOF
(AMENDS ORDINANCE NO. 92-141 AND NO. 93-203,
AND FWCC SECTIONS 2-88 AND 2-90).
WHEREAS, the City of Federal Way recognizes that cultural
diversity is important to a community's quality of life; and
WHEREAS, by previous Ordinance No.
92-141 in June of
1992, the City council of the City of Federal Way, Washington,
established a Diversity commission to review issues and advise the
City Council, as amended by Ordinance No. 93-203; and
WHEREAS, the Diversity commission has requested Council
to consider modification of purpose of the Diversity commission and
the responsibilities of the Diversity Commission; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON,
DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

Amendment - Purpose.
The Federal Way City
Code, Section 2-88 Purpose, is amended as follows:
Sec. 2-88. Purpose.
The purpose of the diversity commission

city council and city staff on policy matters

members for consideration of appointment
to the council's various boards.

Washinqton state law.

Severabilitv.

ordinance are declared separate and severable.
The invalidity of
any clause, sentence, paragraph, subdivision, section, or portion
of this ordinance or the invalidity of the application thereof to
any person or circumstance, shall not affect the validity of the
remainder of the ordinance, or the validity of its application to
other persons or circumstances.
section 4.
Ratification.
Any act consistent with the
authority and prior to the effective date of this ordinance is
hereby ratified and affirmed.

Effective Date.
This ordinance shall be
effective thirty (30) days after passage and publication of an
