MINUTES
I.
CALL MEETING TO ORDER
Mayor Priest opened the special meeting at 4:35 p.m., in Council Chambers, City Hall, Federal Way,
Washington.
City Council present: Mayor Mah1on "Skip" Priest, Deputy Mayor Hope Elder; Councilmembers
Michael Park and Mary Gates. Jack Dovey arrived at 4:45 p.m. and Deputy Mayor Elder arrived at
5:15 p.m. and did not participate in the interviews.
Diversity Commission Chair Ross Papa was also present.
City Staff present: City Clerk Chris Green. Excused were City Manager Ken Nyberg and City
Attorney Londi Lindell.
II.
DIVERSITY COMMISSION INTERVIEWS
Council conducted interviews with the following: David Whitfield, Delicia Hestle-Lunsford, Bonnie
Graves, Dr. Elizabeth Chen, Diana Holz, Pastor Michael McIntosh, John Park and Nathan Brown.
Gabriel Castro withdrew his application and Kirk Klinkhammer did not show for his interview.
III.
DELIBERATIONS
After discussion of Council, a consensus was reached to make a motion at this evening's regular
meeting to appoint the following persons to three-year terms: Delicia Hestle-Lunsford, Dr. Elizabeth
Chen and Pastor Michael McIntosh. Selected to serve three-year alternate terms were Diana 1. Holz
and John Park.
