COMMUNITY CENTER UPDATE
50% Design and Budget Update
Consultant Bruce Flynn of Barker, Rinker, Seacat Architecture (BRS) presented a 50%
update on the Community Center Design. This included a discussion of the latest cost
estimates and efforts to reconcile the estimate, using several different review processes. He
discussed adjustments to the site work and building that the consultant team has made to
reduce the cost of the project, which have minimal or no impact on the program. He also
reviewed additional reductions that would affect the program, but are necessary to stay
within the project budget.
The Council expressed concern over the information given, and asked for follow-up
information regarding time-line, contingencies, market and costs. BRS agreed to schedule a
meeting prior to the November 2nd regular Council meeting to discuss additional
information.
