1.
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Jeanne Burbidge called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.rn.
2.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT/CITY CENTER REDEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES
Mr. Doherty made a presentation to the Council on economic development in the city center. He gave a
background on the issue, presented what other cities have done, offered potential strategies and funding
mechanisms, and a summary of benefits.
The Council decided to place on their agenda at the City Council retreat economic development in the city
center. They directed staff to 1) Identify the public process used in other cities; 2) Come up with
processes/options/ideas to engage the community in discussion as to what extent the City should (or should
not) get involved in developing the city center area.
One suggestion was to publish a special newsletter after the retreat; this newsletter would be devoted to city
center economic development as a way to engage the community in discussing the matter.
3. ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Jeanne Burbidge adjourned the meeting at 7:40pm.
