Over the past year several recreational vehicles have parked for
extended periods of time on city streets, both in residential and
non-residential portions of the city.
Frequently, these recreational vehicles degrade the appearance
of the city to both residents and visitors, and can contribute to
parking and safety issues.

In March, 2024, Council passed Ordinance No. 24-983,
which prohibited parking of RVs on City streets except in
residential areas.
➢ This ordinance would also prohibit parking of RVs on City
streets in residential areas, except for parking an RV in
front of the RV operator's home for loading/unloading
for a period of up to 48 hours.
This ordinance is a companion to another ordinance
proposing changes to Title 19 to make it easier for residents
to park RVs legally on their own property. While the
companion ordinance is not on for first reading tonight, due
to the difference in effective date periods for the two
ordinances, they will be effective essentially simultaneously.
