Policy Question:
Should City Council authorize submittal and execution of the Extreme
Weather Response Grant -Response Funds Agreement to complete the
application process in order to receive future grant funding for extreme
weather events in Federal Way?
Background:
WA State Military Dept. Grant Application
• July 2, 2024: City Council approved request to apply for WA State
Military emergency grant
• Response Funds $350,000 (Non -Competitive)
• Approved applications are eligible to submit reimbursement requests for each
qualifying event of grant performance period from July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025.
• There is no local match requirement
Options
Option #1: Authorize staff to complete and submit WA State Military
Extreme Weather Response Grant application and Response Funds
Agreement for Emergency Shelters.
Option #2: Do not authorize the grant application and provide direction
to staff.
