Dear Peter:
We understand the contractor did not follow the approved plans and specifications and did not install
T&G plywood for the roof. After a review of the project, I will allow the contractor to solid block
under each unsupported panel edge on the roof as follows:
1. Every edge of the plywood roof sheathing shall be blocked. Field blocking is not required.
2. Blocking shall be 2x4 minimum.
3. Each end of the blocking shall be attached to the top chord of the TJI's with two 8d common
(2.5" x 0.131"), toenailed per IBC table 2304.9.1, item 2.
4. Roof Sheathing shall be nailed to the block with 8d (0.131") at 6" oc, each sheet edge to
block per sheet G101, note 37.C.
