Dear Mr. & Mrs. Hundrup:
The Community Development Department's Planning Division has completed the zoning and
environmental review of the proposed single-family building permit and after -the -fact retaining wall
permit for 5419 SW 315th Street. The site has been flagged as an erosion hazard and landslide hazard area
by the City's environmentally critical areas map. The following corrections are needed to verify
compliance with applicable codes.
1. Plan Requirements - All the submitted drawings do not appear to be scaled. Please provide
correctly scaled site plan and elevation drawings.
Environmentally Critical Areas - The Robert M. Pride, LLC geotechnical report provides
recommendations for the design and construction of the residence, but it appears Mr. Pride has
not reviewed the prepared plans to identify whether they meet the intent of his recommendations.
As required by Federal Way Revised Code 19.145.250(2)(e), please have Mr. Pride either amend
his report to provide verification that he has reviewed the construction plans and they are
consistent with his recommendations or alternatively have the geotechnical engineer stamp the
resubmitted site plan documents.
Please provide two copies of the above -referenced corrections with the enclosed resubmittal form. These
corrections are limited to only the Planning Division's review of the permit. The Building Division will
send comments under separate cover. You may contact me at 253-835-2638 or

Dear Mr. Hundrup,
As requested by the city of Federal Way this report summarizes the results of my final
assessment of the proposed infiltration system for storm water discharge in to the native
soils on this property. My geotechnical analysis of the onsite subsoil conditions
confirmed the value of these native soils will allow for slow storm water infiltration
without adversely affecting the existing block retaining walls or downslope instability.
These walls have a subdrain system that captures groundwater that migrates downslope
toward the base of these walls. There has been no evidence of slope instability from this
retaining wall discharge and the walls have performed without evidence of any
instability. Future storm water collected by the infiltration system will more slowly
migrate downslope as compared to the faster runoff that occurs onsite during rain storm
activity. Please call me if there are any additional questions.
