Wilson,, Chief of Staff Camp Kilworth Update Boy Scouts of America, Pacific Harbors Council: Decision to close Camp Kilworth on 3/01/2016 Camp Kilworth is one of several camps being closed including Delezenne, Curren, and Hahobas Tumwater Service Center will be replaced with rental property Decision to close camps based on financial reasons (expenditures exceeding revenues) Camp Kilworth Update With closure of Camp Kilworth, property reverts back to 1934 Deed and two Trusts: -William Kilworth Trust -Florence Kilworth Trust Trusts are managed by a Tacoma Law Firm Meeting scheduled on 3/09/2016 between Pacific Harbors Council and the Kilworth Trusts regarding Camp Kilworth property Camp Kilworth Update Camp Kilworth is approximately 23 acres Considered one of the smaller camps under the control of the Pacific Harbor's Council (Camp Thunderbird is 200 acres) Rotary Lodge (Tacoma) constructed in the 1930's is located on the property Estimated expenses of approx. $30K per year exceed revenue of approx. $5K per year (PHC) Liability insurance costs incorporated into PHC costs for all properties Camp Kilworth Update Pacific Harbors Council intends to remove trees from Camp Kilworth for safety reasons PHC has stated their intention to obtain a permit with the City prior to any work being initiated Safety cutting to be limited given sensitive areas located on the property Arborists under contract with PHC and the City to ensure environmental preservation of the property Camp Kilworth Property PHC is anticipating revenue from tree removal for safety reasons at Camp Kilworth Permit application to the City to occur within the next 6 months Majority of anticipated PHC revenue as a result of cutting/tree removal to be obtained from properties other than Camp Kilworth Camp Kilworth Update City to remain engaged with Pacific Harbors Council and concerned citizens and groups regarding the status of the Camp Kilworth property following the closure of the camp on 3/01/2016 Camp Kilworth Update Brian J.
