Questions and discussion followed. Tran, Member (253) 835-2701 C Authorization to Apply for Transportation Grant City Traffic Engineer Rick Perez presented information the proposed grant application, including the history of traffic incidents, traffic pattern changes, construction in neighboring city of Milton that will increase traffic at the intersection and the mitigation therefor, and the expectation that the grant application will be looked upon favorably. Committee forwarded Option #1 (Approve proposed resolution.) to the July 20, 2021 Council Meeting for Public Hearing. ●Moved: Tran ●Seconded: Moore ●Passed: 3-0 unanimously E.Federal Way Housing Action Plan Draft Associate Planner Chaney Skadsen presented information on the draft of the Housing Action Plan, including housing prices, demographics, city growth projections, strategies to encourage and expand home ownership, and community outreach. Committee forwarded Option #1 (Approve the draft Housing Action Plan.) to the July 20, 2021 Council Meeting Business Agenda. ●Moved: Moore ●Seconded: Tran ●Passed: 3-0 unanimously F.Update on Sound Transit Activities Sound Transit Liaison Ryan Medlen reported on current activities regarding Sound Transit projects, including construction of rail line and station at the Federal Way Transit Center. Questions and discussion followed. G.Pavement Condition and Preservation Program Update Public Works Deputy Director Desiree Winkler reported road conditions and preservation efforts. Overall condition of roadways has been deteriorating, due to lack of funding over 10+ years. To maintain and/or preserve pavement, an excise tax on solid waste collection was enacted in September 2020.
