Policy Question
Should City Council approve entering into a
Franchise Amendment with T-Mobile Wireless
for a macro wireless facility?
Background Information
• T-Mobile Wireless was approved for a franchise in
November 2015 install wireless facilities within the
City.
• T-Mobile has requested to amend the existing
wireless agreement to include an existing facility
obtained through merger.
• Work guaranteed through performance and
maintenance bonds.
• Insurance consistent with city standards.
Background Information
• Wireless demand has seen exponential increase in past few years.
• To be competitive, cities must keep up with technology.
• Demand will be met through implementation of 5G networks.
• T-Mobiles' 5G relies on upgrade of the existing "macro tower" system
with new technology.

Amendment and provide direction to staff.

Franchise Amendment.
