Background Information • T-Mobile Wireless was approved for a franchise in November 2015 install wireless facilities within the City. • T-Mobile has requested to amend the existing wireless agreement to include an existing facility obtained through merger. • Work guaranteed through performance and maintenance bonds. • Insurance consistent with city standards. Background Information • Wireless demand has seen exponential increase in past few years. • To be competitive, cities must keep up with technology. • Demand will be met through implementation of 5G networks. • T-Mobiles' 5G relies on upgrade of the existing "macro tower" system with new technology. Options Considered 1) Approve the proposed Franchise Amendment. 2) Do not approve the proposed Franchise Amendment and provide direction to staff.
