Policy Question
Should the City Council approve Public Works Department’s request to apply for 2021 Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) Complete Streets grant funding to construct ADA improvements
in City Center?

What are Complete Streets?
“Complete” streets are for everyone. They are designed and operated to enable safe access for ALL users of ALL ages and abilities:
Pedestrians
Cyclists
School & Public Transit Users
Motorists and Passengers
Emergency Responders
Freight
Look different in each context.
Balance safety and convenience for all users.

Background Information
City Center has more than $4M worth of identified ADA deficiencies (2019 ADA Transition Plan)
City applied for 2019 TIB Complete Streets grant funds
Awarded $100,000 for S 320th St / Pac Hwy S ADA improvements (curb ramps and ped push buttons)
2021 Complete Streets Award from $100,000 to $1,000,000
City has to be nominated by partner (state agency or non-profit organization)

1. Approve grant Public Works Department’s request to apply for 2021 TIB Complete Streets grant funding to constructs ADA improvements in City Center.
2. Do not approve Public Works Department’s request to apply for funding and provide direction to staff.
