INITIAL / DATE SIGNED ❑ LAW DEPARTMENT SIGNATORY (MAYOR OR DIRECTOR) CITY CLERK ASSIGNED AG# COMMENTS: 2/20 ] 7 OMSC Memorandumof Understanding NOW Between Multi -Service Center (MSC) Federal Way Police Department (FWPD) This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) sets for the terms and understanding between the Multi - Service Center and Federal Way Police Department to attend community listening sessions and provide educational information to community members regarding public safety practices and any applicable laws that have impacted police response in Washington State. 1. Purpose of this MOU In December 2021, MSC was awarded a grant provided by the Department of Commerce - Community Law Enforcement Program. The purpose of the program requires a collaboration between MSC and law enforcement staff where MSC coordinates the creation of spaces in South King County for community members and law enforcement staff to contribute to efforts that rebuild community trust, increase cooperation amongst law enforcement and community, and help develop equitable strategies that law enforcement can utilize in situations where lethal force is not required. The scope of work below defines the expectations of both parties under this project and agreement. 2. Scope of work 1. Ongoing collaboration and meetings with MSC-FWPD staff at least quarterly 2. Participation of FWPD staff in community meetings, education sessions and engaging school resource officers with supporting the collaboration (at least 10 meetings, sessions, etc) 3. FWPD and MSC co facilitate education sessions to inform the public about accessing law enforcement services and response 3. Duration This MOU shall become effective upon signature by the authorized officials from the MSC and FWPD and will remain in effect until December 31, 2023 unless modified, extended or terminated by any one of the partners by mutual consent. The party that initiates the termination of this agreement must provide at least 60 days' notice in writing. Any other items or amendments to be added as agreed to by both parties in writing.
