AND CITY OF TACOMA
FOR THE SW 340TH STREET AT HOYT ROAD SW
INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT a RIG J N A l
THIS AGREEMENT is made and entered into by and between the City of Federal Way
(hereinafter "City") and the City of Tacoma (hereinafter "Tacoma"), (collectively "Parties ").
WHEREAS, the City proposes to proceed with the SW 340th Street at Hoyt Road SW
Intersection Improvement Project as defined by the Scope of the Project (hereinafter "Project"); and
WHEREAS, the City shall provide the necessary administrative, construction inspection, and
clerical services necessary for the execution of the Project.
WHEREAS, the scope of the project includes signalization at the intersection of SW 340th
Street and Hoyt Road SW and the addition of left turn pockets on Hoyt Road SW.
WHEREAS, Chapter 39.34 (Interlocal Cooperation Act) permits local governmental units
to make the most efficient use of their powers by enabling them to cooperate with other entities to
provide services in a manner best serving the needs and development of their local communities; and
WHEREAS, Tacoma will benefit from the intersection improvements with improved traffic
flow ITom Tacoma streets through the intersection of SW 340th Street and Hoyt Road SW within the
City of Federal Way.
NOW, THEREFORE, it is mutually agreed between the parties hereto that Tacoma will
participate in the funding of the SW 340th Street at Hoyt Road SW Intersection Improvement Project
in the amount offorty thousand dollars ($40,000) payable within sixty (60) days of the billing by the
City.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF the Parties hereto have hereunto set their hands and seals the day
and year set forth below.

WHEREAS the City of Tacoma's ("City") 6-Year Comprehensive Street

Program includes the improvement of the intersection at S.W. 340th and Hoyt

Road S.W. in the City of Federal Way, and

WHEREAS this intersection has seen enormous traffic growth in recent
7
years resulting from development within both the City and the City of Federal
8
9
Way, and the City has agreed to contribute $40,000 to fund the project cost to
10
benefit Tacoma residents who utilize this intersection on a frequent and

ongoing basis, and.

WHEREAS the Director of the Public Works Department has
13
recommended that the City enter into an interlocal agreement with the City of
14
15
Federal Way to provide funding for the project; Now, Therefore,
16
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TACOMA:

That the proper officers of the City of Tacoma are hereby authorized to
18
execute an interlocal agreement with the City of Federal Way for the purposes
19
described above, which document shall be substantially in the form of the
20
proposed interlocal agreement on file in the office of the City Clerk, provided
