I.
CALL MEETING TO ORDER
Mayor Burbidge called the special meeting of the Federal Way City Council to order at the
hour of 5:40 p.m.
Councilrnernbers present: Mayor Jeanne Burbidge, Deputy Mayor Dean McColgan and
Councilrnernbers Linda Kochmar and Mike Park; Councilmernbers Michael Hellickson and
Eric Faison arrived in chambers after the Mayor called the meeting to order. Mayor
Burbidge excused the absence of Council member Mary Gates.
Staff present: City Manager David Moseley, City Attorney Bob Sterbank and City Clerk
Chris Green.
II.
SOUND TRANSIT UPDATE
City Manager Moseley introduced Vicki Youngs and Agnes Govern, representatives of
Sound Transit. Following Ms. Youngs update on the Federal Way Transit Center, the
Council invited citizens to comment on the proposed development.
Dan Casey, Alex Polson, Bob Walker, AJ. WithersDoon - all spoke in opposition to the
location of the proposed transit center.
Ron Gintz, Barbara Reid, Al Stipe - spoke in support of the proposed project and location.
Dave Larson - questioned if a hearing before the city's hearing examiner is required prior
to the final selection of the transit center project location.
Rob Leland - representative from the Federal Way School District, expressed concerns
about student safety and noise in the area surrounding Truman High School ifthe proposed
transit center is located near the school facility.
