Comment Topic: Preserving the Steel Lake Park Annex
Written Comment:
I ask the council remove the Steel Lake Park Annex as the location for demolition and
construction of the new Parks Maintenance Facility. I am individual who grew up in
Federal Way using Steel Lake constantly, and I eventually became a Life Guard who
worked at the lake in my latter teen years. As someone who has seen and monitored the
public at the park, I believe demolishing the Annex would be a significant loss to today's
youth and the future youth of Federal Way. I learned how to skate at that park. Went to
events with my family. Summer camps would bring busses of kids out to enjoy the area.
Steel Lake is a treasure to so much of our City's population, it would be tragic to deprive
the future generations of Federal Way something that brought my family and I so much
joy through the years. Please, select another site for the construction for the Park
Maintenance Facility. Build in a location that doesn't result in a loss to the recreation of
future families in our home. Thank you.
