Written Comment:
As a Federal Way resident and school district employee working at Truman Campus, I ask
the Council to please protect the open green space and ball fields as they are and select a
different site for the new Operations and Management Facility. Replacing the trees and
field space with pavement and heavy equipment would have a negative impact on the
atmosphere and environment of the school campus, which serves scholars ranging in
ages from preschool to high school. The fields and trails are used for walking, exercise,
stress -relief and also activities, like our Truman Campus Turkey Bowl game. Our campus
is sandwiched between the busy freeway and the light rail tracks, but the trees clean the
air and provide a natural buffer and wildlife habitat that keeps our campus a calm and
nurturing space. The rumbling of engines, billowing exhaust and backup beepers during
the school day would be a disheartening replacement. Please retain our city's natural
public park areas.
