This is THE least user friendly website I have ever visited. I am trying to give input on
the proposed rezoning across the street from me (Mitchell/veeder/deynaka rezone). I have
several concerns which have not been addressed, and need to before a decision is made. 1. The
soil in this area is high in clay, our yard already floods every year, the added deforestation
will add to that. 2. Because of the old Asarco plant, the lead and arsenic concentration is high
in this area. Undeveloped land has a higher concentration. I believe we already have a cancer
cluster because of the concentration. 3. We chose to purchase a home in this neighborhood
because of it's natural setting and large lot size. We have friendly/quite neighbors, and low

crime and traffic, and would like to keep it that way I am not against the development, just
the code change that would allow for more density. The city has other ideas for high density
housing in more appropriate areas.

Your Mitchell Rezone Request comment letter
Dear Ms. Perrault - Thank you for your e-mail comment on the Mitchell, Veeder, Deynaka Rezone
Request, copied below. At this time, I have forwarded your e-mail comment to the Federal Way Hearing
Examiner. At the Public Hearing scheduled for July 23, 2010, the Hearing Examiner will add your letter
to the public record and assign it an exhibit number. Following the Public Hearing, the Hearing
Examiner will have 10 working days to prepare a recommendation on the matter. His recommendation
and all exhibits, including your letter, will be forwarded to the Federal Way City Council for final
decision.
If you have any questions or wish to discuss the project, please do not hesitate to contact me at 253-835-

people wish to take their parcels, which total 5 acres, and have them rezoned to RS 7.2 from RS 9.6.Our neighborhood is
an older neighborhood with no sidewalks and large, well vegetated lots. We have an abundance of wildlife, for example
we have lots of Pileated Woodpeckers which are an endangered species, in our neighborhood. Although the applicants
don't say they are going to build on their lots, Lakehaven utility has already put through a sewer stub to the top of the
street for a project titled Cedar Point 1. 1 am extremely concerned as i believe the applicants are trying to bypass some
regulations by not announcing their plans and most importantly if they do get the re -zoning change then our
neighborhood is in danger. As they could conceivably build 25 houses to go on the 5 acres, which would increase traffic
tremendously. Putting all the children and adults who walk at grave risk. We don't need the increase in density this
would bring. Please don't approve the re -zoning request. Sincerely Leslie Perrault"

This letter is concerning the rezoning of the property owned by Mitchell-Veeder-
Deynaka. The letter we received on May 23, 2010 was not at all clear on what rezoning
to smaller parcels could do to our neighborhood. We are opposed to this.
We moved into this neighborhood due to the larger lots and no large housing
developments. If this rezoning happens it will allow any property owner to split their
land and build more houses on their property. We are opposed to the over development
and the high volume of traffic this will create. The end of Mitchell's property on 51St
Lane SW is also the bus stop for the primary school children from Twin Lakes. We have
no sidewalks and no speed bumps (even with Palisades Park at the end of 5 1 " Ave. S W)
to slow down the traffic for the safety of all people walking to and from school or the
park. Due to the request of rezoning these three properties, with construction and increase
of traffic involved, will only create more chaos for the residents already living here.
Thank you for taking the time and listening to our concerns with the rezoning of
the properties of Mitchell-Veeder-Deynaka.
Sincerely,
Darryl and Tracy Pittman
