Dear Mr. White:
The City of Federal Way's Department of Community Development Services,Planning Division, has
completed an administrative review of your proposal to continue use of two 40-foot by 8-foot
container for storage at the above-mentioned site,Federal Way Public Schools (FWPS)
Administrative Office. The zoning for the subject site is City Center Frame (CC-F). According to
Federal Way Revised Code(FWRC) 19.125.180, outdoor storage containers for permanent accessory
storage are allowed in the CC-F zone. The City has completed a Land Use Process 1 Review and
hereby approves the proposed storage container.
Pursuant to FWRC 19.125.170(3)(b), the director may determine that the required landscape
screening is not necessary because the use or stored materials are not visually obtrusive. After
reviewing the site, the required 100 percent sight-obscuring screening around the storage containers
is not necessary because the use is not visually obtrusive to surrounding properties. The storage
containers are located on the south side of the principal building and are painted to match the existing
building color. The subject property is bordered by parking lots on all sides and the containers are not
visible from the public right-of-way. The Director of Community Development Services hereby
waives the screening requirement.
The effective date of this decision is July 2,2010, or three days from the date of this letter. Pursuant
to FWRC 19.55.050, any person who received notice of the administrative decision may appeal the
decision to the Federal Way Hearing Examiner by July 16, 2010. Any appeal must be in the form of a
letter delivered to the Department of Community Development Services with the established fee. The
appeal letter must contain a clear reference to the matter being appealed and a statement of the
alleged errors in the Director's decision, including the identification of specific findings and
conclusions made by the Director disputed by the person filing.
In that you are the only party of record, you may waive your right to appeal by submitting a letter to
this effect to the City of Federal Way, Department of Community Development Services. Waiver of
the right to appeal does not affect the effective date of this decision. This decision shall not waive
compliance with future City of Federal Way codes,policies, and standards relating to this
