Bark round Information: During the COVID-19 pandemic, people experiencing homelessness were among the populations disproportionately impacted with higher transmission rates of the coronavirus. This was at least partially due to common, congregate settings for services, and that unhoused people were unable to isolate and practice social distancing. Many services adapted at least on a temporary basis, but there were challenges associated with the adaptations and providing services in light of the particular risks of COVID-19. As City staff look at recovery and potential investments of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds in social services as part of community resiliency emerging from the pandemic, the study session offers the opportunity to explore: • What homeless services exist locally, ■ The adaptions to services made during the pandemic and how they may or may not be continued, and • Some of the persisting gaps in local services. As part of this study session, we will have the opportunity to hear from the King County Department of Community and Human Services, the King County Regional Homeless Authority, and area homelessness service providers: King CoupDe artment of Community and Human Services King County will also supply an overview on what the Department of Community and Human Services does and provide an update on Health through Housing. Health through Housing is fully funded and operated by King County and would not be included as a potential investment for ARPA funding by the City. Rev. 7/18 King Cauniy Regional Homelessness Authority The King County Regional Homelessness Authority will present data highlights and provide a recently completed landscape assessment. Homelessness Service Providers Three of our many local partners and service providers (the Multi -Services Center, FUSION, and Catholic Community Services) will talk about their services and local needs in addressing homelessness. The insight and expertise shared at this session will help inform next steps in community engagement and prioritization of services, programs, and funding. Similar engagement strategies are planned for other community issues and services. Rev. 7/18
