FIR: Public Comment for September 20 City Council Meeting
Rebecca Martin, CEO, Greater Federal Way Chamber of Commerce
Intracorp Redevelopment
The House Action Plan adopted by the City of Federal Way strategies include increased
diversity in housing choices, supporting housing opportunities for residents of all income levels
as well as and supporting pathways to home ownership.
As noted in the Plan: "The city needs a diversity of new housing types, including both rental and
ownership units that cater to a variety of income levels and housing needs to grow in a balanced
manner. This includes `missing middle' housing types such as townhomes and condominiums
that can support more affordable homeownership opportunities." (p .13).
It is our understanding Intracorp plans to redevelop 32818 First Ave South in Federal Way
building for -sale townhomes or condo -quality, market -rate rental townhomes-- not to exceed
three stories-- that complement the existing neighborhood character.
The Greater Federal Way Chamber supports the development of housing densities in Federal
Way that encourage market -rate home ownership or rental opportunities in accordance with the
City strategy to provide "a sufficient supply of both market -rate and income qualified housing
[that supports] neighborhood stability, vibrant communities, and economic vitality." (Executive
Summary).
On behalf of the business community, thank you for your continued support of the Chamber.
