The repair work to the existing bulkhead requires review by the Community Development department for consistency with the Shoreline Master Program.I've enclosed a Shoreline Exemption form that needs to be completed and filed with the department for the work that has already been completed.Also, I would encourage you to include any repair/replacement that you can identify that will need to be completed in the next five years. The completed work and anticipated work on the existing bulkhead/stairs for the next five years can be covered under a single Shoreline Exemption approval. Please attach the following to the Shoreline Exemption form: (1)written description and photos of the work that has been recently completed; and(2)written description of future repairs anticipated and planned material list to accomplish such repairs. Our records indicate that shoreline and building permits were not obtained for the above referenced improvements. If that is incorrect, please provide us with evidence to that effect and we will update our records. Waterfront improvements of this kind typically require permits because of ecological and safety concerns. With proper permitting,shoreline projects can be carefully designed for minimum impact to the ecological function of the shoreline. Within the next two weeks,please contact Senior Planner Matt Herrera (253-835-2638, or matt.herrera@cityoffederalway.com) to discuss the work that occurred and the permitting process to bring the site into conformance.
