Mr.Volz,
The City's Planning Division has reviewed the single-family building permit for a new home located at the above-
referenced address. It has been indicated on the City's zoning map, and verified with the GIS department,that a
portion of the property is located within 200 feet of the Puget Sound marine shoreline and is regulated under the
city's Shoreline Master Plan(SMP).At this time planning staff cannot continue review without additional information.
A portion of the development activity is located within the shoreline setback, and a Shoreline Substantial
Development Exemption request is required. The fee for the Shoreline Exemption is$91.50 and must be submitted
with the application.The Shoreline Exemption request must be reviewed and approved before the building permit can
be issued.
Please complete and submit the attached Shoreline Exemption application along with the shoreline exemption fee.

Hi Grace,
I mentioned this to the John Casey. He is the owner's son, and owns the property across the street. He
says that the house was connected to the sewer system at the same time his house was. There is a
grinder pump cover visible just off the gravel road. The owner is also being billed for sewer by the utility
company.
Is there a way to confirm this? We can get a copy of the sewer utility bill if that will help.

Hi Jay—
I know during the intake process on this application we discussed the applicability of a sewer availability
permit and determined that, since there was an existing residence that was already served by sewer,the
assumption could be made that sewer was, indeed,available. However, it appears that the existing
home is on a septic system. Therefore,we do need either a sewer availability certificate from the
providing utility if they plan to connect or approval from the King County Health Department of a septic
design for the proposed home. Please let me know what the owner is planning for this aspect of the
project.
