Dear Mr. Ikerd:

Pertaining to the base of the sign, it is my understanding that there is an inconsistency between what was
stated in the permit application and what has been constructed. According to Federal Way Revised Code
(FWRC) 19.140.170.3.c, "The base of the sign must be done in landscape construction materials such as
brick,stucco, stonework,textured wood,tile or textured concrete or materials that are harmonious with
the character of the primary structures on the subject property and subject to the administrator's approval.
No visible gap shall be allowed between the sign base and the finished grade or between the sign face or
cabinet and the sign base."
Upon review,it is my decision that the concrete base of the sign that has been constructed is acceptable
and consistent with the intent of FWRC 19.140.170.3.c.This decision is applicable to the following park
sign permits:
