City of FW Director of CD►1 ALL RIGHT AUTO SALES 33333 Pacific Hwy S Federal Way, WA 98003 (253)839-4701 Jan 30, 2023 To: City of Federal way Director of Community development Dear Sir or madam, I received this notice of land use application regarding project named Stevenson Motel Emergency shelter. While my business and I have continuously provided help and support to our great community in Federal way through the MSC (Multi -Service Center) and local churches out of our love to this community and out of our belief that we must give back and help make it a good and safe place for our children and grandchildren to live in. I strongly believe that what makes a community healthy is the genuine mutual respect of its members to each other. While I feel very sorry for the homeless people and believe that not all homeless are bad people or have bad intention, the fact remains that my business and I have for years been disrespected by the homeless as we've sustained considerable losses such as theft, vandalism, and garbage that were most of the time caused by the homeless. I am truly concerned that the Motel across the street from my business will be housing the homeless which might be a direct invitation to other homeless people and more trouble. I am wondering what measures the city of Federal way is taking to protect its residents/taxpayers who have lived peacefully, operated their businesses, raised their children, and faithfully and respectfully delivered on their civil duties' commitments. While I understand that there may certainly be an outside pressure, I hope that the city opposes such transaction and prevents the Stevenson Motel from becoming a shelter for the homeless. I strongly oppose the idea and will be looking into selling my business or moving it somewhere else.
