Should the City Council authorize the purchase
of a drum mulcher head for Surface Water
Management using funds from the Surface
Water Utility —Small CIP Fund?
Background Information
• SWM Operations staff clears brush and small
trees routinely from surface water facilities.
• During inspections, recommendation was to
remove root material using a mulching head.
• Compatible with equipment already owned
and operated.
Purchase of a Drum Mulcher Head for
SWM Operations
• Proposed cost is $60,000 inclusive of tax.
• Proposed to be purchased using available
funds from SWM - Small CIP Fund.
• Available through State Contract.

proceed with the purchase using Surface Water
Utility —Small CIP Funds.

for the Shopping Cart Program

Should the City Council authorize the purchase
of a new truck and trailer for the Shopping Cart
Program using previously approved program
budgetfunds?
Background Information
• In 2022, City Council created a Shopping Cart
Program and approved a corresponding program
budget.
• The first year's budget expenses included a truck and
trailer.
• The adopted program summarized the program
costs, however purchasing requirements requires
specific authorization prior to expansion of the City
fleet.
Purchase of a truck and trailer for the
Shopping Cart Program
Presented program budget included:
— $73,322
for an
upfitted
truck
— $10,629
for an
upfitted
trailer
Both are intended to be purchased through
approved Purchasing Contracts.
Mayor's Recommendation
The Mayor recommends authorizing staff to
proceed with the purchase of a new truck and
trailer for the Shopping Cart Program using
previously approved program budget funds.
