Your application is hereby approved per the findings and conclusions noted below. Removal of Blackberry Bushes In order for the upland areas away from the critical areas on the site to be properly assessed for development, blackberry bushes must be removed. An exemption to remove blackberries must be granted before the removal is to occur. Federal Way Revised Code (FWRC) 19.120.030(12) states that the following method can be used as an exemption to remove vegetation: Removal of overhanging vegetation and fire hazards, or removal of invasive species, hazard trees, nuisance vegetation, or dead, dangerous, or diseased trees when authorized by the director or his/her designee. Due to blackberries being an invasive species, the removal the blackberries is hereby approved. Site Reconnaissance Wetlands occur on the above -referenced property on its east side. A partial exemption must be given in order to properly delineate wetland boundaries. FWRC 19.145.120(2) states that the following activity is a partial exemption: Site reconnaissance necessary for preparing land use or building permit applications. Any disturbance of the critical area shall be the minimum necessary to conduct the site reconnaissance and the area shall be restored to its previous condition immediately. The reconnaissance shall be only enough to delineate wetland boundaries. The removal of vegetation shall only be done with hand tools. As with the western half of the property, no herbicides or mechanical equipment may be used in order to remove vegetation. Since this reconnaissance is necessary in order to Mr. Korve July 27, 2018 Page 2 properly delineate wetland boundaries and further scope out the development of this property, site reconnaissance of the eastern half of the property, per FWRC 19.145.120(2), is hereby approved.
