Dear Ms. Chapin,
The Federal Way School District recently received the Notice of Application for Smith Brothers Farms proposal for
a warehouse and distribution project. The project is located at 9th Ave South and South 344th Street. Adjoinging
this project side, on the south side border is Federal Way Public Academy located at 34620 9th Ave S serving
students in grades 6-10 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m, with staff arriving and departing before and
after these times. Other after school and evening activites also occur periodically.
With the distribution planned for this site, we would appreciate additional information related to the anticipated
truck volume moving in and out of the site, particularly during student arrival and dismissal times to ensure the
safety of our scholars, parents and staff. Anticipated noise volumes are also of interest to ensure the instructional
time is not interrupted. Current questions include:
• What are the sizes of the trucks to be used in the distribution process?
• How many trucks are expected to move in and out of the facility each day?
What times of the day will the trucks be mostly moving in and out of the facility?
The District appreciates the opportunity to comment on this proposed development, as well as consideration for
the safety of our scholars.
