TEMPORARY BMPS SHALL BE SIZED TO CONTROL RUOOFF FROM A 20 YR/1 HOUR STORM, WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY 1-INCH OF WATER IN ONE HOUR. THE FOLLOWING BMPS SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED BEFORE CONSTRUCTION BEGINS: A. BOUNDARY FENCING - CLEARLY DESIGNATE THE LIMITS OF CLEARING AND GRADING AND DEFINE AREAS TO BE PROTECTED B. TRAFFIC CONTROL - AREAS WHERE CONSTRUCTION TRAFFIC CAN TRAVEL SHOULD BE CLEARLY MARKED WITH FLAGGING, MARKERS AND/OR TEMPORARY FENCING. C. STABILIZED CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE - CONSISTS OF A PAD OF CRUSHED STONE OR GRAVEL LOCATED AT ANY POINT WHERE CONSTRUCTION TRAFFIC ENTERS OR LEAVES THE SITE. PAD SHOULD CONSIST OF 1 TO 3 INCH DIAMETER CLEAN GRAVEL AT LEAST 8 INCHES DEEP. D. DUST CONTROL - MOISTEN SOIL TO A DEPTH OF 2 TO 3 INCHES, MULCH AREA WITH GRAVEL, OR ESTABLISH A VEGETATIVE COVER E. PROTECTION OF TREES AND OTHER VEGETATION - INSTALL TEMPORARY FENCING OR OTHER BARRIERS ALONG THE DRIPLINE OF TREES AND OTHER VEGETATION'S BRANCHES TO PREVENT DISTURBANCE 4. TEMPORARY SEDIMENT BARRIERS -ARE STRUCTURES USED TO SLOW RUOOFF AND TRAP SMALL AMOUNTS OF SEDIMENT TEMPORARILY. TEMPORARY SEDIMENT BARRIERS SHALL BE INSTALLED AROUND THE DOWNHILL PERIMETER OF DISTURBED SOIL AREAS. A. FIBER ROLL BARRIERS (ALSO CALLED SEDIMENT LOGS) - SHOULD BE INSTALLED PERPENDICULAR TO THE EXPOSED SLOPE, KEYED INTO A CONCAVE TRENCH AT LEAST THREE INCHES DEEP, AND STAKED SECURELY ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ROLL EVERY 12 INCHES. B. FILTER FENCE - SHOULD BE KEYED INTO THE GROUND AT LEAST 6 INCHES DEEP, BACKFILLED WITH DIRT OR GRAVEL, AND STAKED ALONG THE CONTOUR LINE BELOW THE DISTURBED SLOPE. THE ENDS OF THE FENCE SHOULD BE INSTALLED WITH A TURN UPHILL TO CREATE A "J" SHAPE THAT WILL POND WATER. C. DROP INLET BARRIERS - TEMPORARY DEVICES INCLUDING GRAVEL BAGS AND DROP INLET FILTERS IN AREAS WITH A CURB AND DROP INLET SYSTEM ONLY. 5. TEMPORARY EROSION CONTROL -BARE SOILS EXPOSED FOR ANY AMOUNT OF TIME MUST BE STABILIZED BY ONE OF MORE OF THE FOLLOWING BMPS: A. PINE NEEDLE MULCH. B. EROSION CONTROL BLANKETS OR GEOTEXTILES. C. CHEMICAL MULCHES AND TECKIFIERS. D. HYDROMULCH AND HYDROSEED. 6. SPOIL PILES THAT REMAIN ONSITE ONE DAY OR LONGER NEED TO BE SURROUNDED BY PROPERLY INSTALLED TEMPORARY SEDIMENT BARRIERS (FIBER ROLLS OR FILTER FENCE) AND MUST BE COMPLETELY COVERED BY AN IMPERMEABLE FABRIC.
