Stevenson Hotel Emergency Shelter, 33330 Pacific Hwy S, Federal Way
Dear Dan Wise:
The Community Development Department has received your December 19, 2022, Use Process III application. The
proposal includes a change of use of the Stevenson Motel to use as an emergency shelter for people experiencing
homelessness. The shelter will provide spaces for 40 people up to 48 people if couples are being sheltered and
include case management services.
NOTICE OF COMPLETE APPLICATION
Please consider this correspondence a formal Letter of Complete Application. According to Federal Way Revised Code
(FWRC) 19.15.045(2), the application is deemed complete as of the date of this letter. The complete application
determination is based on a review of your submittal relative to those requirements as set forth in FWRC 19.15.040.
The submittal requirements are not intended to determine if an application conforms to the City of Federal Way
codes; they are used only to determine if all required materials have been submitted.
TECHNICAL REVIEW/NOTICE OF APPLICATION
Formal processing and review of your application will now begin. Technical review comments will follow at a later
date. Technical review comments may result in a request for additional information and revisions to comply with
applicable code requirements.
A Notice of Application (NOA) must be published in the Federal Way Mirror, posted on site, placed on the city
website, and mailed to the persons receiving the property tax statements for all property within 300 feet of each
boundary of the subject property within 14 days of this letter, pursuant to FWRC 19.65.070(2). The city will
prepare one Public Notice Board that the applicant will be responsible for posting on site by January 20,
2023. Further posting instructions and the notice board will be available for pick-up at Will Call at the Permit
Center Receptionist Desk on the 2nd floor of City Hall on Friday, January 13, 2023.
