Dear Mr.Paroline:
The City of Federal Way has received and reviewed the proposal to place one temporary trailer on site
while the existing Starbucks is being remodeled.The temporary trailer is for a walk-up coffee shop in the
existing drive-thru area next to the building.There will be a temporary barrier to protect pedestrians and
an ADA ramp to the trailer.
FINDINGS
The temporary trailer was reviewed as an administrative Land Use Process I pursuant to FWRC
19.275.080, `Regulation of temporary trailers,buildings,or other structures for construction,temporary
business or sales,and outdoor storage containers for construction-related materials'.
The temporary trailer will be used for a limited time while the existing Starbucks restaurant is undergoing
renovations.The temporary trailer will not reduce the amount of parking.Due to the location and current
construction activity on the subject property, it has been deemed that the temporary trailer is not visually
intrusive and does not alter the character of the site,on a temporary basis.
Upon review of the Land Use Process I application,the proposal is approved.
APPEALS
The effective date of this decision is May 25,2014,or three days from the date of this letter.Pursuant to
FWRC 19.55.150,any person who received notice of the administrative decision may appeal this decision
to the Federal Way Hearing Examiner by June 9,2014.Any appeal must be in the form of a letter
delivered to the Department of Community Development with the established fee.The appeal letter must
contain a clear reference to the matter being appealed and a statement of the alleged errors in the
Director's decision, including the identification of specific findings and conclusions made by the Director
disputed by the person filing.
In that you are the only party of record,your appeal period is waived(assuming you do not wish to appeal
this decision). Waiver of the right to appeal does not affect the effective date of this decision.This
decision shall not waive compliance with future City of Federal Way codes,policies,and standards
relating to this development.
