WORK HOUR EXCEPTION
Pursuant to Federal Way Revised Code (FWRC) 19.105.040, development activities and heavy equipment
operations are not permitted outside the hours of 7: 00 a.m. and 8: 00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and
--9:.00 a.m. -and- 8- 00 -p.m-Saturday. However, the, Director ofCommunity. and -Economic -Development may
grant revocable written permission to engage in development activity other than the above permitted
times, in accordance with FWRC t9.105.040(2)(a):

description of the specific exception(s) requested; proposed temporary construction
mitigation measures for any related impacts such as traffic, noise, and glare; and an
analysis of how the request meets the following criteria:
i. The work will not result in substantial adverse impacts to surrounding

and/or long-term inconvenience or disruption to the public."

This project is needed to replace and improve existing coverage and provide installation of Dura Stripe
Pavement on the public right-of-way of South 348h, from 2 nd Lane South to 9�h Avenue South. Due to the
generally commercial office character of the surrounding land uses, adverse impacts to the surrounding
land uses are riot ' anticipated. Noticing provisions are waved. This meets the criteria of F)WRC
19.105.040(2)(a), and bis& on your request, the Director of Community and Economic Development

to the nature of the work to be performed and heavy traffic in the areas during normal working hours.
During the constritclion of the �01� Asphalt Overlay project, Tucci and Sons, Inc. will be grinding,
OViiig and instidWioti of Dura Sffip0 pavemea marking on S 348'h Street, from 2 d Ln S to 9th Ave S.
The project lies within mixed zoning. South 348 1h St is fronted by businesses and single family home
residents. In order to shorten the duration of the project and minimize the morning and afternoon rush
hours impact, the contractor requests to work night shift.
For these reasons we request approval of night work variance, 7:00 p.m to 7:00 a.rn Monday through
Friday.
We anticipate the project will begin in June 2013 and the need for the variance may be extended through
August 2013� due to weather, Please issue a construction work hours variance to the Public Works
1epartmerit for the S 348"' St project from 2nd Ln S to 91h Ave S.
