cemove three tir trees and one hemlock tor salety reasons. I his leffer is in response 10
2013, request to remove the selected hazardous trees as follows:
• Just below the trail, there are two larger Douglas -firs that appear to be in trouble. The
larger (2 1 " dbh) is quite thin and the foliage is very stunted.
• The adj acent fir (19 " dbh) does not look too bad, but its proxim ity to the stressed one (6')
almost assures that it is infected also. It is in the opinion of Mr. Landrud, Arborist, that
these two must be removed.
• There is also a 16" fir tree that is leaning slightly towards Mr. Kim's home. Though it
appears to be healthy, it is close to others that have died (or fallen over), and its attitude
assures that a failure would hit the home.
• In addition, a small (6" dbh) hemlock adjacent to the path has died. It is above the path
approximately 100' north of the fir trees, and is leaning downhill, so it should be knocked
over as well.

Subject: Tree removal request
We had a small fir tree fall in a recent storm and strike the Young Kim home located
3376732 nd Ave. SW. Upon closer inspection, I noticed it appeared to have failed from
root rot disease. As I surveyed the area it I saw other mature trees that are showing ear
n I
warning signs so I called Thundering Oak to inspect in more detail and to give a seco
opinion. Mr. Kim also flagged a large fir tree as a concern that has a slight lean towa
his home. This tree appears healthy, from a foliage standpoint, but given the fact that t
residence has had two failed trees fall on his home in the past and this tree is next to oth
trees that have failed, it now becomes a potential risk. The danger is what cannot be se
underground as the roots rot and weaken the anchoring capabilities of the tree.
Attached is a report from Thundering Oak that I concur, that the 3 mention fir trees arZ
dead hemlock should be taken down for safety reasons. I submit this letter requesti
permission to take down the trees documented in the Thundering Oak report. I

Hi Steve,
I visited the homes of the above -referenced residence today and have the following observations
and recommendations about the nearby trees.
#92, (Young Kim). This home at 33767 32 nd Ave. SW. borders the southeast comer of Olympic
View Park. The forest in the immediate vicinity contains a known Laminated root rot pocket,
from which several trees have failed or been removed over the past 4 or 5 years. The smaller
trees above the trail at this time all appear to be holding out okay, with no further dieback,
decline or failures.
- Just below the trail, however, two larger Douglas -firs appear to be in trouble. The larger
dbh) is quite thin and the foliage is very stunted.
- The adjacent fir (19") doesn't look too bad, but its proximity to the stressed one (6 feet)
almost assures that it is infected also. It is my opinion that these two must be removed.
- There is also a 16" fir tree that is leaning slightly towards Mr. Kim's home. Though it
appears to be healthy, it is close to others that have died (or fallen over), and its attitude
assures that a failure would hit the home.
- In addition, a small (6" dbh) hemlock adjacent to the path has died. It is above the path
approximately 100' north of the fir trees, and is leaning downhill, so it should be knocked
over as well.
All of the other trees in the area appear vigorous and healthy at this time.
