What is a Lake Management District? A Lake Management District is a form of special purpose district by which assessments on lake -area properties can fund specified lake management activities. (RCW 36.61.020) LMD Benefits • Creates an ongoing process and structure for taking proactive actions to support lake management. • Establishes property -owner representation through an Advisory Committee. • Develops a communication network to notify property owners when key issues affect the lake. • Creates an equitable and fair funding mechanism through assessments to property owners, factoring in relative impacts of residential and public lake access (such as the Steel Lake Park boat launch). • Allows for ongoing funding of short- and long-term lake management activities. • Works to prevent the spread of invasive aquatic weeds to other lakes throughout the region.
