Dear Ms. Britt:
The Community Development Department has received your request to remove one large Douglas-fir tree
on the subject property above.
Analysis
I. Applicability—FWRC 19.120.020 states no person shall remove any trees on a site without first
obtaining approval of a tree retention plan by the director, except for those activities that are exempt
as described in FWRC 19.120.030.
2. Removal of invasive vegetation— FWRC 19.120.030(12)exempts the removal of overhanging
vegetation and fire hazards,or removal of invasive species, hazard trees, nuisance vegetation,or dead,
dangerous,or diseased trees when authorized by the director or his/her designee.
Decision
Pursuant to FWRC 19.120.030(12), the requested tree removal at 30837 22nd Ave S (Parcel No. 053700
0566) is hereby approved.
Furthermore, FWRC 19.120.010 recommends the property owner replace one additional tree unit on the
subject property with a mature canopy area of 450 to 1,250 square feet, to maintain the urban tree canopy.
Under normal circumstances the subject property would be required to maintain at least 5 tree units(25
tree units per acre in RS Zones)under FWRC 19.120.130(2).

Be advised that this approval is applicable to the maintenance proposed in the March 31, 2017, submittal
to the city and any expanded scope of work should be verified for exemption status. Please feel free to
