You noted that these trees present a potential risk to your property and that they appear to be diseased or infested by insects. According to the plat, Tract A is designated as a NGPE (Native Growth Protection Easement) to be owned and maintained by the Homeowners' Association. Note # 1 of the Regency Woods Division 1 plat states, "The vegetation within the easement may not be cut, pruned, covered by fill, removed or damaged without express permission from King County which permission must be obtained in writing from the King County Building and Land Development Division or its successor agency" ("successor agency" _ City of Federal Way). While the photos you submitted are helpful, in order to review the trees proposed to be removed, please provide a professionally prepared arborist's report that identifies the location, number, type, and size of trees to be removed; the hazardous conditions of the subject trees; the method of removal (noting if any stumps are to be retained); and clarifies if any replacement vegetation is proposed. Please use the enclosed Resubmittal Information Form and reference file #12-102124-AD. The city will reply in writing to the request to remove hazardous trees once the submitted information has been reviewed. Please do not hesitate to contact me at janet.shull@cityoffederalway.com, or 253-835- 2644, if you have any questions about this letter. They appear to be diseased and/or infested by insects. They have been dropping large limbs onto my property. That paired with a few close calls and a large tree that struck a neighbors house, brings me to looking into whether one or more of these trees should be trimmed or removed (please see attached pdf document with photos and explanations of concern). I understand and support the preservation of trees, especially in wetland/free growth areas. After watching this situation become more dire in the last year, I feel it has become too much of a risk. Please let me know if you have any questions. He said in order to remove any trees in that area, photos are needed as well as specific concerns. This is a wetland area and trees are not allowed to be removed without good reason". Photo's and concerns can be sent to the following email address to get approval to remove. If the City approves, the HOA will allow you to remove those trees. He did some research and found that the trees located in the greenbelt behind my house have a listed ownership of "Regency Woods # 1 ". Steve recommended I speak to the Regency Woods Homeowners Association to discuss how we can have these hazardous trees removed. If you have any questions regarding ownership, please feel free to contact Steve directly. We are anxious to begin replacing our fence, however we need to address the safety concerns that these trees are posing first. Can you please let me know what are the next appropriate steps are from your end? We are not in favor of cutting down trees and understand the importance of preserving wetlands. The concern for our safety, the safety of our neighbors, and our property has compelled us to bring our concerns to you. Every time there is a wind storm, we hear trees falling in the greenbelt. A tree fell a couple years ago and hit a neighbors house. We want to prevent any future damage or injury. Thank you for your time and attention.
