REGISTRATION NUMBER. PLEASE CALL 253-661-4140 TO SCHEDULE THE
INSPECTION.
2) Window signs are all signs located inside and affixed to a window
and intended to be viewed from the exterior of a structure.
Window signs are used to advertise products, goods or services for
sale on-site, business identification, hours of operation,
address, and emergency information. The area of window signs
shall not exceed 25% of the window area.
3) This permit is issued based on the information provided by the
applicant. Since property lines cannot be verified without a
survey, the property owner, his heirs or assigns shall assume all
liability for any relocation or any other associated costs should
the sign be located in public right of way.
4) Per Federal Way City Code, Sec. 22-1153 and Sec. 22-1160, no
fencing or any other visual obstruction above 3 feet or below 8
feet, may be within the area that must be kept clear of sight
obstructions. Areas that must be kept clear are in the shape of a
triangle and outlined in red on the site plan. Additionally, per
FWCC, Sec. 22-1602 (d) , no sign shall be so located so as to
physically obstruct any door or exit from a building. No sign
shall be located so as to be hazardous to a motorist's or
pedestrians's ingress or egress from buildings or parking areas.
No sign shall be located within the clearview zone.
5) Pursuant to Federal Way City Code Section 22-1603 (F) , no sign may
contain or utilize the following:
(1) Any exposed incandescent lamp with a wattage in excess of 25
watts; (2) Any exposed incandescent lamp with an internal or
external reflector; (3) Any continuous or sequential flashing
device or operation; (4) Except for electronic changeable message
signs, any incandescent lamp inside an internally lighted sign;
(5) External light sources directed towards or shining on
vehicular or pedestrian traffic or on a street; (6) Internally
lighted signs using 800-milliamp or larger ballasts if the lamps
are spaced closer than 12 inches on center; and (7) Internally
lighted signs using 425-milliamp or larger ballasts if the lamps
are spaced closer than six inches on center.
6) The sign base shall be made of solid materials that are
harmonious with the character of the primary structures on the
subject property and there shall be no visible gap between the
sign base and the finished grade for all monument and pedestal
signs, per FWCC Sec. 22-1602 (3) (I) .
7) Signs should be constructed and installed so that angle irons,
guywires, braces and other structural elements are not visible.
This does NOT apply to structural elements that are an integral
part of the overall design. (FWCC, 22-1602 (A) )
8) No sign shall project above the roof line of the exposed building
face to which it is attached. (FWCC, 22-1601(B) (2) )
