SIGN PERMIT INFORMATION
✓ A sign permit is required to install, erect, modify, relocate, or replace a sign within the City of
Federal Way.
✓ Signs must comply with the requirements of the Federal.Way Revised Code(FWRC) and
International Building Codes(1BC, etc.).
✓ Questions concerning code or submittal requirements.can be answered by staff at the Community
Development Services Permit Counter at(253) 835-2607.
✓ Sign Permit Application Process:
-i Permit applications must be submitted in person
- Plan review and application fees must be paid at submittal
-4 Incomplete applications will not be accepted
-� Electrical connection to existing J-box will be included on the sign permit;new wiring
requires a separate electrical permit
✓ Fees:
-► Sign Permit fees are calculated using the table below based on a bid or estimate that
includes the fair market value of all aspects of the project.
Permit fees are collected at permit issuance
- Plan Review fees are calculated at 65%of the Permit Fees;
Plan Review fees are in addition to Permit Fees and are collected at submittal
-4 Automation fees: $6.00 per permit, collected at submittal

Dear Federal Way Sign Permits Department:
The Prudential franchise has been purchased by a Berkshire Hathaway company. They are creating a new real estate
franchise and Prudential Northwest Realty will be part of that new"Super Brand." We are excited to share that we
will be changing the name of our company on November 5,2013 to Berkshire Hathaway HomesServices Northwest
Real Estate.
With this upcoming change we are applying for a permit to change the name on our sign. Our real estate office
located at 622 S.320th Street in Federal Way,WA 98003 has been a landmark in the City of Federal Way since the
building was constructed in 1986. Over the years,with three different name changes,from All-American Homes to
Colclwell Banker All-American Associates to Prudential Northwest Realty we have continued to operate our real
estate business in this location. From the high interest rates in 1989,to the low volume of the Gulf War,through
9/11 and the latest economic down turn we are still here. We owe it all to the people in our community and to our
sign. Even though our name may have changed our staff, real estate agents, management team and building location
have remained the same.
As a real estate office that has been in this location for over 26 years our sign has been of great support to us as well
as to our community. It has served to advertise homes for sale in Federal Way,update market conditions,share
rising and falling interest rates and promote community events like the FUSION Art Sale. In order to continue this
support we want to keep the same sign parameters that we have had for 26 years and update it with our new name—
Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Northwest Real Estate. In order to accommodate a second tenant in our building
we need to move our sign 38 feet to the west of its current location and additionally apply for a permit for a second
sign for a future tenant in our building. We have attached a sign design and location photo for both signs.
Our company owns six offices in the Puget Sound area,all located in nearby cities. Federal Way will be one of the
first cities in the nation and one of the first cities in the state to welcome a Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices
franchise company. We will be updating the entire sign with a clean new look. Our landlord in Capitol Square is
putting a new roof on our building and our landscaping is always well detailed. We want to continue to be good
stewards in our community and look forward to this next exciting chapter of selling real estate in Federal Way.
