2024 Legislative Agenda
• The process for the formulation of Federal Way's
Legislative Agenda will be discussed at this meeting.
• This will include an overview of potential issues for
advocacy.
• The finalized Legislative Priorities will be presented
for adoption at the Tuesday, November 21st,
Council meeting.

• Attending the November 21st will be our State
legislative lobbyist, Jim Hedrick who will do a briefing
on upcoming 2024 Legislative Session.
• Between the Council meetings tonight and November
21st, Council will be discussing the priorities with staff.
• Meetings will be in smaller groups, in compliance with
public meeting rules.

• At that meeting the Mayor and Council will finalize the
legislative agenda for consideration and passage by the
Council.
• We are also planning aface-to-face legislative breakfast to
present these priorities, tentatively planned for
Wednesday, December 6th.

• Reinstate Police pursuits for car theft and other
property crimes.
• Advocate for a Budget Proviso for a comprehensive study
researching the Statewide impacts of car thefts and who is
committing them. This will be in partnership with regional
police, local governments and local legislators. Our State is
#4 in car thefts in the nation, in raw numbers behind New York,
Texas and California. Per capita Washington is 1st in the nation.

• Transportation budget requests including:
1) The City Center Access Project.
2) The 373rd Traffic Circle.
3) Improvements to SW 336th=SW 340th corridor.
4) The Triangle Project.

Celebration Park, among others.
• Maintain ability of local governments to retain
autonomy as they plan for growth.
• Condominium liability reform and housing affordability.
• Behavioral and mental health resources.
