Dear Mr. Soto:
On May 17, 2017, the City of Federal Way's Department of Community Development received your
request for verification of any critical areas located on parcel #302104-9064. After reviewing the City's
Critical Area Map, it appears that a portion of the subject property is located within an Erosion Hazard
Area.
Erosion hazard areas are considered Geologically Hazardous Areas (GHA) and are regulated as such
under Federal Wary Revised Code (FWRC) Chapter 19.145 "Environmentally Critical Areas." Per FWRC
19.145.220, the Director of Community Development may permit development activities on or within 50
feet of the GHA if the development will not be at risk of damage due to the geologic hazard and will not
lead to or create any increased slide, seismic, or erosion hazard.
The City is not aware of any other categories of critical areas located on or within close proximity to the
