Dear Mr. Schembs:
The city is in receipt of your March 27, 2018, partial exemption request on tax parcel 302104-9064 to dig
two bore hole/test pits with hand -augers ranging in depth from 5 to 10 feet; each 3 inches in diameter. You
propose site reconnaissance for a new single family building permit.
The test pits are located in the middle and the first third of the subject property. There is a 30-foot change in
relief between them. The site- is undeveloped and heavily forested. Pursuant to Federal Way Revised Code
(FWRC) 19.145.120(2), this critical area site partial exemption request is hereby approved with conditions.
APPROVAL CONDITIONS
1. Any disturbance of the geologically hazardous area shall be the minimum necessary to conduct the site
reconnaissance and test pit work; no additional critical area disturbance, tree or vegetation removal,
and/or grading activities are approved under city file no. 18-101349-00-AD.
2. Test pits labelled "HA-1 and HA-2," depicted on the site plan, must be immediately restored.
3. Future site development shall be subject to the requirements of FWRC 19.145, Article II, Geologically
Hazardous Areas, including but not limited to, a critical area report; and may be reviewed by a third
party consultant at the applicant's expense per FWRC 19.145.080.3.
