Re: Diaconou project

Mr. Roe:
I am writing to request a shoreline exemption for an emergency septic tank repair
on the Diaconou property.
Specifically, we are asking for permission to use the upper 20 feet of beach
through private property to run our equipment to the site. We will going across
private property to install the tanks on Dr. Diaconou's property. We have
received permission from the neighboring property owners, per the letter that was
submitted to your: department previously. We have attached'`a copy of the
permission letter for your review.
The duration of this project will be one day. Our goal is to start this work on
Tuesday, April 22, due to the favorable tides that day, provided we can
coordinate our material and labor. We will be using a trackhoe and a front-end
loader. In order to repair the system, we will be replacing ,the existing failing
septic tank with three tanks. We will be setting the tanks and backfilling with
sand. We will have an oil spill response kit on site as well. Please contact us at
your earliest convenience if you have any questions or need additional
information in order to grant this exemption. You can reach Brian Alexander, our
project superintendent, at (206) 396-8655, or call us at the office number listed
below.
Thank you,

Mr. Roe:
We are writing to amend our request on -the application for the right-of-way permit
to remove the harrier in order to access'the beach. We would like to -add a
request to close the road to allow focal access only for one day; to include the
Shelleys and the Wohlwends only, for safety reasons. Please review and add
,this to our permit application. Please contact us at your earliest convenience if
you have any questions .or need additional information in order to grant this
application. You can reach Brian Alexander, our project superintendent, at (206),

I- here is Terry Jensen's request for the Diaconou project. This is not an emergency, but rather an exempt
maintenance and repair type of shoreline action. Handle it as an AD. Make sure the approval letter is written
narrowly to maintenance and repair of an existing failing septic system and not for general construction access.
Limit the approval to one day, with spill containment on site and restoration of any disturbed beach area. Call
for a follow up inspection, etc. Verify and include commentary on permission from all private properties that will
be crossed, and a comment about obtaining r/w approval prior to commencing the project.
