Committee Attendances and City Staff: Terry Thomas, Darron Nash, David Heimer, Larry Flesher, Dan Sternkopf and Shelley Springer.
Call Meeting to Order
Meeting was called to order by Terry Thomas on August 15, 2023 at 4:02 pm.
Minutes and the Special Meeting Minutes
Minutes were approved with no changes.
Approval of the 2022 Annual Report
Annual report was reviewed and approved with no changes.
Well 10C Update
Lakehaven handles the well head is located by North Lake.
Aquatic Vegetation Survey Update / Spray Report
The lake had a late start on the vegetation this year. The lake is low and hard to get a boat in the north cove. While Aquatechnex is doing treatment, they will take another survey
at no cost.
Dan will request a Aquatechnex spray report and provide information at the next meeting. Photos were provided to Dan to discuss with Aquatechnex.
Aquatechnex should try to complete their survey earlier in spring while the vegetation is coming up in the shallow water. After June, the water level goes down and it turns to mud.
Invite Aquatechnex to the next meeting in November.
Have a meeting with residents living on the lake to discuss:
What does a 5 year plan look like for success?
What kind of weeds need to be trimmed or not?
We could invite KC to talk about noxious weeds.
Homeowners can hand pull vegetation on their own property but cannot apply treatment.
Summer Water Quality Monitoring Update
We have two samples left to collect this year. Four samples have already been completed. No sight of blue algea. Best summer we have had on the lake and geese numbers are down. Lake
temperature is normal.
Geese Management
USDA has a new threshold for geese management. USDA will only come out if it is 40 nesting. The USDA crew have been reduced to only 1 crew member (was 8). Since geese is a migratory
bird, only the USDA can addle eggs.
Status of LMD Assessment, Collections, and Delinquents / Current Financials
Dan will send out reminder letters related to delinquent accounts.
Discussion of Open Public Meeting Act
Dan gave an overview of the Open Public Meeting Act as it pertains to North Lake Management District.
Questions / Comments / Concerns
The group discussed different issues on North Lake and the importance of having a comprehensive list of who to contact when issues arise. Dan will develop the North Lake contact list.
