Description of current proposal Construction of a shared-use path along the Pacific Hwy S corridor from S 308th St to S 288th St. The non-motorized improvements will consist of a path/trail that for portions of the alignment will parallel the roadway and portions will be located within the (partially unopened) right-of-way for 16th Ave S. The segments of the trail located off-roadway will include pedestrian-scale illumination for safety. The project will include traffic calming, signal modifications, pedestrian crossing improvements, compact roundabout, pedestrian scramble phase, and bulb-outs. The project will be constructed in two phases. Phase 1 of construction is programmed and will be on 16th Ave S from S 304th to Dash Point Road. Phase 2 will be programmed in the future and include S 308th St to S 304th St and Dash Point Rd to S 288th St. This is a multi-year project, and the programming reflects the funds available within the span of the regional TIP. Proponent The project will be constructed by the City of Federal Way. Grant funding is provided by federal Safety, Safe Routes to Schools, and Air Quality funding. Location of current proposal The project is located along the west side of Pacific Highway S, starting at S 308th Street then transitions to the west side of the 16th Ave S corridor in front Federal Way High School to from just south of S 304th Street to S Dash point road. At S Dash Point Road (SR 509) the trail converts to the east side of Redondo Way S on the north side of S Dash Point Rd for approximately 400 feet then transitions to unopened 16th Ave S right of way and property to be acquired to S 288th Street.
