23-106056-SU-School Access Analysis-01-19-24M E M O R A N D U M TO: CITY OF FEDERAL WAY FROM: SARAH SHARP RE: SAGALIE HEIGHTS SAFE SCHOOL WALKING ROUTE JOB#: 1316-004-023 DATE: NOVEMBER 28, 2023 On behalf of Prospect Development, ESM Consulting Engineers, LLC is providing the following memo as part of our safe school walking route analysis for the proposed Saghalie Heights subdivision. The project is five parcels (1921049028, 1921049026, 1921049024, 1921049018, 1921049019) to be subdivided into 26 new Single-Family lots. The project site is located in the City of Federal Way at 1525 SW 341st PL, Federal Way, 98023.The school district serving this project site is Federal Way #210 School District. The future students will be served by Sherwood Forest Elementary School, Illahee Middle School, and Todd Beamer High School. The Federal Way School district stipulates that transportation for students who live farther than the 1-mile approved walking distance from the school will have bus transportation. The distances from parcel to school are as follows: - 0.2 miles for Sherwood Forest Elementary students. - 5.1 miles for Illahee Middle School students. - 3 miles for Todd Beamer High School students. Bus Stop for Middle and High school students: - 0.2 miles to SW 341st and 12th Ave SW The future middle/high school students of the subdivision will live a distance greater than the maximum walking distances set by the school district. The students will need to have access to Federal Way #210 School Districts bus routes. Which have been provided by the school district and are subject to change. As seen on Figure 1 that was taken from the school districts website. Future elementary school students will be close to the school and have safe walking/bike routes outlined by the school district in Figure 6.
