CONDITIONS:
1. Window signs are all signs located inside, affixed to a window & intended to be viewed from the exterior of a
structure. Window signs are used to advertise products, goods or services for sale on -site, business ID, hours of
operation, address, & emergency information. The area of window signs shall not exceed 25% of the window area.
2. This permit is issued based on the information provided by the applicant. Since property lines cannot be verified
without a survey, the property owner, his/her heirs or assigns shall assume all liability for any relocation or any other
associated costs should the sign be located in public right-of-way or within the required yard setback.
3. The required setback from property lines for all signs shall be not less than 5' in residential zones and not less than 3'
in all other zones.
4. Sign base shall be made of solid materials harmonious with the character of the primary structures on the subject
property. There shall be no visible gap between the sign base & finished grade for all monument & pedestal signs, per
FWCC, Sec. 22-1602(3)(I). j
5. Signs should be constructed & installed so that angle irons, guywires, braces & other structural elements are not f
visible. This does NOT apply to structural elements that are an integral part of the overall design. (FWCC, 22-1602(A))
6. FINAL SIGN INSPECTION IS REQUIRED in order to receive the sign registration sticker. Please call 253-835-3050
to schedule the inspection.

The following information was not included in your approval for a sign permit. It is now being
provided to clarify the reasons your business is entitled to have a sign under permit #01-
103961-000-00-SG issued to you November 5, 2001.
The Federal Way City Code (FWCC) does not permit commercial signs in residential zones.
Furthermore, the code does not provide legal nonconforming businesses an allowance for
signs. Since your business is allowed to remain as a legal nonconforming use, provided, it does
not lose its legal nonconforming status, per FWCC Article IV, the city has provided an
allowance for your sign by identifying another use that most closely resembles your existing
business. The city reviewed and approved your permit for the use as if the use were a Church,
synagogue or other place of worship to determine sign allotment. If for any reason the business
loses its legal nonconforming status, all signs under this permit will be required to removed
immediately.
