Mr. Hong,
After reviewing your photos and our discussion. As long as you are performing the work as the sole contractor on
a property you own and are not hiring anyone else to assist you then you do not need an AHERA survey. Please
use safety precautions to remove the colored tiles and have them disposed of as presumed asbestos containing
per Notification 202401033 and then demolish the structure as intended in Notification 202400749. This is the
only material that appears to be suspect for asbestos. If you have any other questions please let me know.

My new notification number is #202401033. The previous notification number was #202400749
Federal Way City Permit Center is requesting written words from PSCAA that I won't be needing an
AHERA inspection. I will be doing my own removal of tiles that may contain asbestos with care
following the safety instructions.

Here's are my responses.
1. The concrete blocks are hollow like the example. Nothing is in those holes.
2. There are no signs of any insulations around doors and windows.
3. Attached you will find a pdf file of the layout of the garage. The walls are made out of concrete
blocks (hollow), doors and windows frames are woods. Some walls are covered with pieces of
wooden boards. The roof has wooden trusses and covered with asphalt shingles.

My name is Patrick Osborne, and I am an inspector with PSCAA. We received you email regarding the
demolition of a stand-alone garage on your property. There are a few pieces of information we need
before we can confirm that an AHERA inspection is not needed.
• Are the concrete blocks hollow or are they filled with any sort of insulation or other material?
• Are there any doors or windows to the garage that have any insulation or sealant around them?
• We will need detailed pictures of all materials used and the layout of the building.
In the case that an AHERA inspection is required, multiple AHERA certified building inspectors can be
found and contacted online.
