New Sign Construction or Existing Sign Improvement
This process information pertains to the construction or improvement of freestanding or building mounted
signs. Required setbacks, height limitations, and other sign code information can be obtained from the Land
Use Division of Community Development Services (CDS). Building code information may be obtained from the
Building Division of CDS. Sign P P one Y permits expire year from the date of issuance.
ALL information and plans must be provided before the application can be accepted.
I. SIGN PERMIT APPLICATION \' .
A. Form: Complete the Sign Permit Application form. Any space left blank will delay blank will delaype�rmit

B. Fee: A plan check fee is due upon submittal of a complete permit application. Contact the
Development Specialists (253-661-4115), for the exact fee amount.
II. REQUIRED PLANS
You must submit two sets of the following:
A. Site Plan: An overall site plan (24" x 36" paper, minimum scale 1"= 20') showing the proposed
structure in plan view (see site plan example, Figure 1). See the Sign Permit Application Checklist
(other side of this sheet) for detailed plan requirements.
B. Building Elevations Plans: (Applies only to building mounted signs.) An elevation drawing
for each building face to which a sign will be affixed (see elevation plan example, Figure 2A and 2B).

III. SIGN CONSTRUCTION SHALL NOT CONTAIN OR USE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:
A. Exposed incandescent lamps exceeding 25 watts
B. Exposed incandescent lamps with external or internal reflectors
C. Continuous or sequential flashing devices or operation
D. Incandescent lamps inside an internally illuminated sign, exce t for changing message centers
E. External light sources directed towards or shining on vehicular or pedestrian traffic or on a street

IV. INSPECTION/REGISTRATION (Inspection request number is 253-835-3050)
A. Signs with foundations require a foundation inspection. Wall signs require an attachment inspection.
Rough electrical will be inspected at the time of foundation inspection, if appropriate.
B. A final sign and/or electrical inspection is required and must be scheduled to register all signs.
C. After a sign has passed its final inspection, a registration sticker will be affixed to the sign by the
inspector. Signs without a registration sticker have not received final approval. Please contact our
office if you have a sign that has been inspected but not registered.

LICENSE TO MAINTAIN SIGN

This license ` is entered into by and between =Pfa-ram
("Licensee") and Chase Livio Limited
Partnership ("Licensor").
In consideration for the following mutual promises,
covenants and conditions the parties agree as follows:
1. Parties. Licensee operates an Economy Motel on South
328th Street in Federal Way, Washington. Licensor owns real
estate along Highway 99 in, Federal Way, Washington. Licensee
desires to place its sign on property owned by Chase Livio.
Chase Livio's property is legally described on Exhibit A
attached hereto and incorporated by reference herein(the
"property").
2. Sign Location. Licensor agrees Licensee may install
and maintain a pole sign approximately r.� feet high in the area
of the property shown on Exhibit B.
3. Term. This license shall commence October 1,.2003 and
shall not terminate before September 30, 2004. This -'license
shall terminate thereafter upon not less than 120 days written
notice by either party.
4. Fee. For the first year of this license Licensee
shall pay Licensor $1C7 — Thereafter, at the commencement of
each subsequent 6 month period the Licensee shall pay to the

5. Security Deposit. on execution of this license
Licensee shall pay to Licensor $1,000 to be held as a security
deposit for the faithful performance by Licensee of its duties
herein. Such funds may be commingled with Licensor's other
funds, and any interest earned thereon shall belong to Licensor.
Licensor shall return the unused portion of the security deposit
if any to the Licensee within 30 days after termination of the
license and fulfillment by Licensee of all of its duties herein.
6. Licensee's Duties. In addition to its duty to pay the
license fee, Licensee shall be obligated to, at Licensee's
expense:
a) Maintain the sign in good operating condition.
b) Pay all utilities associated with the operation
of the sign.
c) Install the sign at Licensee's expense.
d) At termination of the license remove the sign at
Licensee's expense.
e) Repair at Licensee's expense any property
disturbance or damage caused by either the sign's installation
or its removal or installation or removal of power.
f) Pay for all expenses associated with maintaining
or operating the sign.
g) Abide by all laws and ordinances applicable to
the sign.
7. Licensor's Duties. Licensor shall provide to Licensee
access across Licensor's Property to install the sign, remove
the sign and maintain the sign. Such access will be provided at
reasonable times. Licensee shall not disturb or otherwise
adversely affect Licensor's tenants or Licensor's own use of the
property. Licensor shall have no duty to insure the sign,

maintain the sign or protect the sign. In the event the sign is
vandalized or damaged Licensee's rights shall be only against
such person or persons who actually vandalize or damage the
sign. Licensee shall hold Licensor harmless from any and all
claims for injury or damage to persons or property caused by
Licensee's sign or its installation, maintenance or removal.
8. Default. Failure by Licensee to perform any act or
pay any sum required herein, which failure is not cured within 5
days after written notice of such failure shall result in
immediate termination of this license.
9. Notices. Notices may be hand delivered or mailed. In
the event they are hand delivered they shall be deemed given as
of the date of receipt. In the event they are mailed in the
U.S. Mail, postage prepaid, they are deemed delivered two days
after the date of mailing. Notices to Licensor shall be mailed
or delivered to Licensor at: 38105 208th Avenue SE, Auburn, WA
98092. Notices to Licensee may be mailed or delivered to
licensee at: 1814 S. 324, Place, Suite C, Federal Way,
Washington, 98003. In addition, notice to Licensee is deemed
delivered to Licensee at such time as it is hand delivered to
the office of the Economy Motel whose address is: S.
328th St., Federal Way, Washington, etc.
10. Duties at Termination. Not later than the last day of
the License term Licensee shall have removed the sign and
repaired any disturbance or damage to the property. In the
event Licensee fails or refuses to remove the sign Licensor may
do so, and if Licensor does so Licensor's only duty with respect
to the sign is to deposit it into the parking lot of the Economy

Motel, permission for which is hereby granted to Licensor by
Licensee.
11. Disputes. Any dispute regarding the terms and
provisions hereof shall be arbitrated pursuant to the provisions
of RCW Chapter 7.04. Venue of any such arbitration shall be in
King County, Washington. The prevailing party shall receive an
award of reasonable attorney fees and costs.

Some time ago I finished relocation of sign for Economy Inn Motel. Until today I could not call for final
inspection because of construction work going on in the area where sign is located. The sign is in the
place, but the grade elevation is still not final. I am asking for extension, our sign permit expires on
