CITY OF FEDERAL WAY OPEN HOUSE
PERIODIC REVIEW OF THE SHORELINE MASTER PROGRAM (SMP)
The City of Federal Way is undertaking a periodic review of its Shoreline Master Program (SMP), as
required by the Washington State Shoreline Management Act (SMA). The city adopted its current SMP in
2011. The focus of this periodic review is on consistency with changes to state law made since its adoption
in 2011. The review also will address consistency with the city’s comprehensive plan and development
regulations. The goal is to adopt the updated SMP by June 2019.
Project documents, meeting announcements, and other resources will be posted to the city’s SMP update
website at https://www.cityoffederalway.com/node/3819. The official file is available for review at the City
of Federal Way Community Development Department (Federal Way City Hall, 33325 8th Avenue South,
Federal Way, WA 98003, 253-835-7000), from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The city will be hosting an Open House on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, in the City Council
Chambers (Federal Way City Hall, 33325 8th Avenue South, Federal Way, WA 98003), from 6:00 to 8:00
p.m. All interested citizens are invited to attend.
